Real Nice Quality Family Time

We spent a week driving around Canada (Eastern part). Spent a quality time with family in the Toronto area. Enjoyed the amazing Niagara Falls. It was our 5th time and is gorgeous each time we see it. We then went to thousand islands, Ottawa, Quebec City and finally Montreal and back home. Quebec City is one of the best places I have been to and its a place I wouldn't mind going every summer. Very nice. All in all a great family time and a great vacation.

My wild caught Discus

After keeping discus, acquiring and keeping wild caught discus is a great experience. Over the period from March 2010 to May 2010 I acquired great quality wild stock from Oliver Lucanus (Belowwater.com) - Exquisite wilds. Very happy. The fish are the best in quality. The fish color up every day and look different in each shade of the day. A true spectacle to watch and be owner of.

My first Discus Breeding w/ Frys.

During Christmas vacation (Dec 2009) hanging in Philly area, i decided to visit friend Hans (known in discus hobby as Discus Hans) Its an amazing hatchery with more than 5000 fish (yes u read that right). I picked up my long awaited, long wished Marlboro Reds. These were 2 adults or young adults fron 2 different tanks. With able guidance from Hans and some negotiations with Aditya - I picked the pair.
They were in my tank Dec 28th. In QT for a week and then Jan 4th they were on their own in the 29 gallong tank with breeding cone. Jan 7th 2010, they laid eggs, Jan 10th I had wigglers, Jan 15th they went free swimming attaching to parents bodies and today Jan 22nd they are all over the place.
Been an interesting week with the frys so far.
The frys went off the cone wigglers to parents body attachment. Today they are really free swimming.
Its a great site to watch. The parents are getting offensive everytime I approach the tank. Feeding FBW 3 times a day and 5 gallon water change everyday. I do not have aging mechanism yet so very cautious of how much water change I do.

Nice Christmas Day 2009

This Christmas Day we decided to do something different. With 90 miles from NYC, we said lets go to Manhattan and see the Rockerfeller Christmas Tree (this year it was from CT - 78 feet tall) and then have lunch at the famous Carnegie Deli.
It was a perfect day - 50 deg F and no wind in Manhatan - seems like a meteriological wonder. Works perfect for us.
Carnegie Deli sandwich was worth the hype. The place is really unique. Huge, tremednously huge sandwiches. That day just in sandwich we must have ate a full turkey. Rashmi and I shared a gynormous Turkey Rubin and my kids had a turkey sandwich and then they ate for 2 days on the leftover. Believe me they eat well.. not nibling kids by far.
We spent rest of the evening @ Time Square and when on the "Top of The Rock" observatory to see the NYC skyline at night. It was an awesome sight and remind you with 50 deg weather and no wind on Dec 25' 2009. Amazing day. We spent remainder of the vacation with Rashmi's brother Shailesh around Philly area visiting Hershey Park and Philly Zoo.
Time well spent and Christmas to remember.
